Birch Sap
The term sap refers to the liquid that circulates within the various parts of plants. So-called "raw" sap rises from the roots to the leaves, while so-called "elaborated" sap is produced in the leaves through photosynthesis. The birch sap used for the cure is the raw mineral sap.
The harvest
Birch sap is harvested only once a year, from mid-February to mid-April, depending on the climate. The rise of the sap occurs before the buds and leaves appear, over a period of four to five weeks.
This harvest is mainly done by tapping: a small-diameter tube is drilled into the trunk to a depth of two to five centimeters. Once the sap has been collected, the hole is plugged with a wooden peg.
The sap is generally harvested from trees between twenty and fifty years old. Far from being weakened, these trees are stimulated and strengthened for the coming season. Birch sap harvested this way by hand is a very clear, even colorless liquid, and at first glance is as pure as clear water.
However, due to the presence of fructose, its taste is naturally slightly sweet. Its condition does not remain stable over time though, and due to the presence of sugar, it ferments, becomes tangy, and after a few days of settling, a slight cloudiness appears.
Preservation
Birch sap can be preserved and stabilized in different ways: by adding alcohol or through pasteurization.
The cellular environment
Water makes up 60 to 70% of body weight. In the body, water (also called interstitial fluid) is distributed between the intracellular and extracellular spaces in a 2/3-1/3 ratio.
When this interstitial fluid becomes overloaded with toxins, cell function is hindered; this results in slowed activity, premature aging, and disrupted exchanges at the cellular level.
This fluid carries molecules, nutrients, hormones, and any particles needed for the body to function properly, both intra- and extracellularly and at the bloodstream level. It also drains metabolic waste and toxins, which are then taken up by the blood and lymphatic systems for elimination.

Constituents
The composition of the sap can vary depending on the soil in which the birch trees grow. The richer the soil is in minerals and trace elements, the more concentrated the sap will be in nutrients. Among the most important components are fructose and two heterosides: betuloside and monotropitoside. Through enzymatic hydrolysis, these compounds release methyl salicylate, known for its soothing and detoxifying properties.
Birch sap also contains mineral salts such as manganese, calcium, and especially potassium and silica, as well as trace elements, amino acids including L-glutamic acid, mucilages, flavonoids, and, in very small amounts, plant hormones.
Properties
Birch sap has detoxifying, revitalizing, and rebalancing properties for the cellular environment. An unsuitable diet, stress, fatigue, and lack of physical activity are all factors that gradually diminish vital energy.
The birch sap cure acts on the two main purification organs: the liver and the kidneys, allowing for deep drainage of the entire body and of extracellular fluids.
Accumulated toxins and metabolic waste, as well as harmful substances (pesticides, dyes, additives, preservatives, medications), are dislodged from the tissues. The sap stimulates liver function and increases bile excretion, thereby promoting intestinal transit, which is essential for elimination.

The birch sap cure
The traditional cure, based on the body's biological cycle, lasts 21 days (the time needed for the body to regenerate), followed by a one-week break.
Starting at the new moon strengthens the effect of the cure and carries the message of renewal.
Depending on the level of intoxication, several 3-week cures may sometimes be needed to cleanse the body ever more deeply and achieve the revitalizing effect.
In practice, the dose is one tablespoon per day, in a glass of water, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach. During this period, it is advisable to lighten your diet, drink water or herbal teas, and allow yourself moments of rest or self-care (massage, hydrotherapy, lymphatic drainage, relaxation, etc.).
Precautions: Not recommended for those taking anticoagulants or for people with allergies to salicylate derivatives.
