Lemon essential oil is extracted from the zest of the lemon, by our Italian and Argentinian producers. This essential oil has a lively, tangy and lemony aroma.
The lemon tree, a small evergreen tree, can reach a height of 3 to 6 meters. Its fragrant white flowers then give rise to the characteristic lemons.
Native to Southeast Asia, probably India or Burma, this tree prefers a warm and sunny climate for its growth and to produce quality fruits. Although it can tolerate some drought, regular watering is necessary to maintain good health.
During great maritime explorations, ships carried lemons to prevent scurvy, a disease caused by vitamin C deficiency. Sailors consumed lemon juice to stave off this debilitating disease.
